THE THICK OF IT
The programme that has done more to make my generation interested in politics than any other.
DRIVE
Action. Intellect. The two colliding in a hollywood movie is something of a rarity. Prepare to be amazed by Nicholas Winding Refn’s Drive.
THE BIG LEBOWSKI
The film that takes genre strands and plays ker-plunk with them…to fantastic effect!
THE WIRE: THE BEST THING EVER FILMED
If you haven’t seen this yet, I envy what thrills await you. If you have seen it then you probably know what I mean. If you have seen it and you don’t absolutely adore it then I don’t think we can be friends anymore. Sorry.
ANIMAL KINGDOM
This film excellently ruined Air Supply’s All Out of Love. You’ll never listen to that song the same way again.
Mass Effect
I’ve only ever completed three video games…and one of those was a Zelda game! The other two were both Mass Effect games! That’s quite a statement is it not?
Arrested Development
America. Land of the free. Home of the brave. Surprisingly good producer of TV comedy. If only the Americans themselves had appreciated just how good Arrested Development really was.
The Horns of Jericho – Hijack
Listen to this and you’ll understand that this is a truly important album. Never mind what Idris told you (or rather didn’t tell you) while he wore that stupid hat. This album is the key milestone in the development of hip hop in this country…
Cold Lampin’ With Flavor
At a rough estimation I have waited around 20 years to see Public Enemy live. As you might imagine the days leading to the gig opened a route straight though to my inner thirteen year old and the excitement flooded in leaving me giddy and light headed.
