THE MOUSE & THE MASK: DANGERDOOM Sunday 30 October, 2011

Doom & Danger Mouse. Yes please.

You know how MF Doom is amazing, right? Well Danger Mouse is pretty special too. The two of them together is something pretty special also. Doom loves to collaborate. It’s no surprise really. His collaboration with Madlib is one of the finest albums know to man (Madvillainy).

Dangerdoom doesn’t quite reach the heights of Madvillainy but that by no way means that this is not a fantastic album.  I think the project was in some way linked to Cartoon Network’s Aqua Teen Hunger Force.  The cranky characters turn up inbetween tracks and as subject of some songs. That’s not to say that’s a problem though. Doom is, as always, in supreme form and Danger Mouse does a splendid job with the beats.

There are some outstanding tracks here though. Old School, MInce Meat & A.T.H.F are on a different level of excellence though.

If you liked Gorillaz and Howling Bells and have even a mild interest in hip hop you’ll probably quite enjoy this.
